Our therapists offer a comprehensive range of occupational therapy services to help restore the function of our patients after injury, surgery, and illness.
Our occupational therapists evaluate and develop individualized care plans that address the specific needs and treatment goals of our patients. Therapy treatment may include the use of modalities and various forms of therapeutic exercise to enhance function and strengthen muscles. Our goal, and commitment, is to return our patients to active living, free of pain.
Occupational therapy includes both inpatient and outpatient therapy services. Our skilled therapists provide a comprehensive evaluation and develop an individual treatment plan. The plan is tailored to the unique needs of each patient. We treat adult, geriatric, and pediatric populations. Our focus is to help patients develop, recover, and improve skills needed for daily living and occupation.
At Southern New Hampshire Health System, we have a specialized team of certified and board eligible hand therapists that have advanced clinical knowledge of the arm and hand. A certified hand therapist must have advanced study, training, and competency in the upper extremity and pass a certification examination. Hand therapists use these specialized skills to evaluate and formulate treatment plans to prevent dysfunction, restore function and/or reverse the progression of pathology of the upper limb. Treatment techniques are individually designed to maximize recovery and enable patients to engage in occupation, valued daily living and community activities.
The following is a list of common conditions that are treated by an occupational therapist:
- Tendon/ligament injuries
- Repetitive use injuries
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Nerve injuries
- Joint replacements
- Surgeries of the hand/wrist/elbow
- Neurological diseases/deficits
